LIVALO Lowering LDL Cholesterol

LIVALO lowering ldl cholesterol

LIVALO is in the class of medications that are called statins. Statins, such as LIVALO, have been shown to effectively lower the amount of LDL cholesterol (otherwise known as “bad cholesterol”) in the bloodstream.

Statins, in general, are often prescribed to help patients manage their cholesterol. This is because statins, including LIVALO, have been proven to help lower the risk of heart attacks, as well as strokes.

In some cases, statins have even been shown to increase the amount of HDL cholesterol (“good cholesterol”) in the bloodstream.

LIVALO, when used in combination with regular exercise and a low-cholesterol, heart-healthy diet, may help to improve a patient’s overall cholesterol levels – lowering the LDL cholesterol while simultaneously increasing the HDL cholesterol.

LIVALO does this by helping to block an important enzyme that is needed by the liver to make LDL cholesterol. In addition, LIVALO (and other statins), also help to remove cholesterol from a patient’s bloodstream.

Statins can help the body to re-absorb and/or remove the cholesterol that has been building up in a patient’s artery wall. When this is done, it can help to prevent more blockages from forming in the blood vessels. Blockages can lead to heart attacks as well as strokes and so preventing them or reversing them, is a very good idea.

It is important to note, however, that not all statins act the same. LIVALO, for example, may be less likely to cause certain drug interactions compared to other commonly prescribed statins. The body processes LIVALO differently than other statins, which is the likely reasoning behind this.

LIVALO is far less likely to interact with other medications and so it is often prescribed to patients who are taking other medications at the time.
